Dr. Lucia Cagnes grew up on the beautiful island of Sicily. She chose to become an obstetrician and gynecologist because it presented a good balance of both general medicine and surgery. Taking care of patients and making a positive difference in their lives is what Dr. Cagnes finds rewarding and she has gone to great lengths to pursue her love of medicine. Dr. Cagnes graduated from the “ Universita` Degli Studi ” di Palermo, Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia (The University for the Study of Medicine and Surgery of Palermo, Italy) in 1981, and after completing her OB/GYN residency, she practiced her specialty in Northern Italy for three years. Shortly after she met her future husband, an American Air Force officer stationed in Sicily, she moved to the United States to marry him and to start a new career. She completed a second OB/GYN residency in the US in 1997, she became board certified in OB/ GYN in 1999. Dr. Cagnes has been in the private practice of gynecology only, in Hyannis, MA since 1999, serving the local community. Over the last few decades, she has been helping countless patients to deal with issues related to HPV infection and to achieve important milestones in achieving better health. She keeps herself current with the new advancements in the field of gynecology and specifically HPV, which she developed a special interest in.
